How to Make Frozen Ice Cream treats

Step 1: Freeze the Plate

Place the Rolling Ice Cream Plate upside down in the freezer for 12-24 hours

Tips for a good freeze:

The ice cream plate has a liquid coolant under the aluminum plate, which stores the cold and freezes the ice cream. (The coolant is sea salt and water, so it is perfectly safe) Getting this coolant evenly frozen under the plate is key to a good freeze mix. Turning the plate upside down (aluminum plate downwards) to freeze, ensures that the coolant is in good thermal contact with the aluminum plate.

  • Check that the freezer is set to a very cold setting.
  • Make sure the plate is sitting upside down and level in the freezer.
  • Ideally the plates aluminium surface will be over a mesh shelf to ensure good air contact, this will speed up freezing.

Step 2: Prepare your ingredients and Chill in the refrigerator

Have all your ingredients prepped and chill them in the refrigerator. You want to have all the ingredients as cool as possible. This will allow you to make more ice cream with each freeze of the Rolling Ice Cream Plate.

Do not use hot or warm ingredients to attempt to make Ice Cream.

Step 3: Make Ice Cream

Remove the rolled ice cream pan from the freezer and pour in the ingredients in small quantities onto the aluminium plate, it will start to freeze instantly. Scoop and turn with the included plastic ice cream roll spatula, until the mix is solid and smooth.

Make ice cream balls and scoop into a dish or cone and enjoy.

You should be able to make two or three batches before the plate will need to be re-frozen.

To Make Ice Cream Rolls

Making Ice Cream Rolls takes a little skill, so practice making ice cream balls to start with. Once you have mastered this, then you are ready to attempt ice cream rolls.

To Clean the Ice Cream Plate

Soak in room temperature water until the coolant has thawed. Hand wash only in the sink with luke warm water, using a fine brush to clean in the gaps between the plastic surround and the aluminum plate. Let dry on a rack.

Do not put the Rolling Ice Cream Plate in a dishwasher.

Note: The food-grade plastic casing is of a type suitable for very low temperatures, however this does make it unsuitable for elevated temperatures and a little brittle, so exercise care with handling and washing etc.
